Garden Home Villa
Every house is an expression of a personality, of the owner’s style and character, and more than that, an integrated environment for us to live and thrive – not just simply existing in concrete blocks. Life is a patchwork of experiences, so why not make our house a feast for the senses?
“Art should not be explained, but should be experienced” – architect Steen Eiler Rasmussen once wrote in the book “Experiencing Architecture”. There is no emotion in us that is not attached to a certain object, person, or place, just as there is no locality that does not evoke waves of emotions, either intense, powerful feelings, or subtle ripples of gentleness.
Just as every construction evokes interlinings and nervous states, emotions confer architectural spaces and high and low walls. Solitude is an empty room and happiness is a garden. And our childhood homes recall a feeling of familiarity, as they belong to the sphere of our memories - the earliest impressions of love and happiness.
The Garden Home also has a garden, which is not only a terrain that cradles us in soothing emotions, a capsule of childhood memories, but also a 'green cushion' that protects inhabitants from the noise and pollution outside. The interior space, which covers the living room and dining room, is designed to be an open space directly connected to the garden outside, so that no matter which corner, family members can maintain connection with nature, perceive their surroundings through many senses, and in many forms. The musty smell of freshly cut grass. The warmth of the sun, entering through the green leaves. The cooling mist that lingers from the previous night. The garden is a living entity filled with healing energy. This is the very space that nurtures people's first connections with the community, with the world, in a safe, loving space.
D1 Group Architects accommodate many outdoor games inside this space, with the highlight being the hanging tree house. The tiny treehouse plays an important role: it helps to build and nurture the connection with nature, and ultimately, the love and respect for nature, for the community.
Children perceive life with all their senses. Through outdoor games, their vision, hearing and touch are trained, honed, and imagination is developed. When climbing trees, when playing catch, or inventing their own games together, children are learning to grow into well-rounded people.
The garden space is full of elements to stimulate all of our senses. The garden space contains two swimming pools with a large LCD screen hanging from above, to suit the mood of an outdoor party.
The functional space in the house is divided by the floors. The ground floor accommodates the garden, living room, dining room, and the first floor is reserved for the two bedrooms of parents and children. Before embarking on the design, D1G Architects conducted a small 'survey', to ensure that each room expresses its owners’ preferences and personality. The attic contains the laundry room, a worship room and a lovely bedroom for guests.
