Garden Hotel

The Garden Hotel’s long side faces the West, where the sun shines almost directly on the building and the guest rooms. The puzzle posed for the D1 Group Architects team, then, is how to make the rooms cool and comfortable, while maintaining the connection with the scenery?
D1 Group Architects wishes to bring an experience of tranquility into people’s life by connecting them with nature. In each room, we designed a green garden to refresh the bond between the human soul and nature, for the soul to be cleansed by the melodies of the cosmos.
The team turned the balcony into a hanging garden and positioned a bathtub inside this very space to create a feeling of being in harmony with nature. The glass windows were retired inside the building so that the sunlight does not shine directly on the glass, but instead will travel through the shades of the plants and glitter the curtain before finally entering the room, carrying with them the freshness of a new morning.
Many people believe the façade is the ‘face’ of the building where owners showcase their individuality or wealth. However, in this project, D1 Group Architects and our client wants to show everyone that the façade can also be a green passage for sunlight to waltz in, a green cushion for the building, a space for the city to breathe. The concept of the façade of the building changes according to its functionality, instead of vanity.
