Kén Exhibition

Kén at LIM Tower is an experimental project initiated by LIM, with the aim of unearthing and propelling original artistic talents, products, and developments that represent today’s new generation of Vietnamese progressive minds.

The exhibition space is located on the ground floor of LIM II Tower. In this project, D1 Architectural Studio was entrusted with the designing and constructing the frame of the exhibition area.

The “Cocoon” exhibition area is an enclosed space shaped like the cocoon of a silkworm. The entrance and exit have different designs, in order for guests to experience the start and the end of their journey. To imitate a cocoon shell, the main structure of the project is made up of a steel frame laced with layers of rattan. The centrepiece of the exhibition is a cocoon created with a steel frame and Tyvek fabric, a material that appears to be fragile and easily torn, but is actually extremely durable.

To give the impression for visitors that they are walking inside a cocoon, the exhibition walls are curved into organic shapes. In addition, the material is transparent, light, and capable of reflecting the image of the guests moving on the other side of the partition, adding an element of mysterious charm for the venue.

The exhibition “Ken” is the first collaboration project between D1 Architectural Studio, fashion designer Nguyen Hoang Tu and visual artist Cao Hoang Long. This exotic blend between architecture, fashion design and visual arts brought a new, innovative way of thinking to Vietnam’s art scene.
